Movie addicts

I’ve seen many people addicted to a particular genre of movies, some people like coach\sport movies, some like war movies, some like chick flicks etc Ill start with coach movies, firstly people who watch these kind of movies are semi successful or not at all successful in their respective sport and not successful In any other field, in these movies the parents and the players treat the coach like god “Coach what should I do........., Coach our son/daughter...... kind of crap where the coach becomes the all knowing all seeing guy fat guy, they always as a rule end with the team in focus winning against all odds by scoring in the last few seconds in slow motion.

War movies show the pain of both sides at war but as a rule always end with U.S.A winning (unless its Border or Kargil or a Sunny Deol movie where India always wins). The young soldiers too two of them are married generally with one having two children and the other one recently married, one old experienced guy with wife but no kids in addition to the above, one fat soldier usually the centre of jokes, one soldier with happy go lucky attitude and no mention of his family usually skinny and the one who makes the jokes. The others (except the fat one on whom the joke is centred) laugh on it and the old guy breaks the joke and asks them to be serious followed by a fire fight and a soldier getting hit in the arm. Such movies too end with your side winning (unless you are a Russian watching red October which is of course not possible) and you become happy and cheer.

Last but certainly the worst kind : Chick Flicks. Their are endless types of chick flicks but the common factor in all of them is a brainless/ugly bimbo who rises against all odds odds here being guys who are dishonest in their relationships in this case the chick being ugly or a test/career obstacle in this the chick being beautiful but brainless . The feel good factor is again the same only the movie has lots of cleavage regardless of the chick being ugly/pretty.

If you like any one of these genre’s and don’t miss a single movie within it then you are a movie addict, you have a boring, lethargic uneventful lifestyle and very few people who care about you, you watch these movies to bring excitement to your lives. If you are a fan of war movies fear not for there is hope, if you are a fan of sports/coach movies then you have slipped into proper addiction and if you like chick flicks then you a person with low self esteem and you watch these movies to make you feel good about yourselves.

These people share many characteristics with druggies but what makes this a worse form of addiction is that it is socially acceptable when it kills your brain cells faster then weed. I’ve targeted mainly Hollywood movies but attacking Sunil Shetty, Sunny Deol, Sharukh Khan, Bollywood love story genre’s is too much torture for me, I’ve also missed out sex comedies which give losers hope that they will get laid without paying for it before marriage.

There are many exceptions in each genre’s movies that are actually good and don’t follow the same formula to fill the producers pockets and fry the audiences brain but I am talking about people addicted to these genre’s .

Society calls people who are into substance abuse weak and yet there are many socially accepted ways for people to lose touch with reality and slip into their own hallucinations. I am not a druggie or drinker or smoker so you might think I am trying to justify my habit, the following is just my observation with people.

Am I proud to be an Indian

I've been meaning to start a blog for quiet some time now, I had many write ups ready on things I like to do such as some new guitar technique that I found, a new way around the university firewall, DRM and its implications on Indian market etc but it never got off further from the writing pad.

Today morning I was woken up by a SMS from my friend Dishank quoting Arun Shourie "not an eye for eye ,but for an eye both eyes. for a tooth whole jaw ……..please stop running to mummy" My initial reaction was being happy that some leader is finally saying what must be said but then I realize that in the history if our nation this has happened numerous times and every time nothing ever happens.

Lets see what the government has done till now to ensure this will never happen again in the future, After the attack the police and the intelligence agencies did a good job of bringing justice to those immediately responsible for the attack something that should have been done before the attack nevertheless we did something, after that our leaders officially condemned the attacks and asked Pakistan to take the necessary steps to curb terrorism, then we asked for international co-operation and the UN banned certain militant outfits, the parliament had a session and surprisingly all political parties acted in a mature manner and the leaders didn't fight over petty issues.

But if history of our nation suggests anything then we as a nation will do nothing, we will mourn the attacks for 3 months, for another 3 we will read about it in the newspapers and after that it will take a backseat from our as well as the governments mind, the around election the issue will be raised again by opposition and after elections it will be forgotten again by everyone except those who lost someone in the attacks.

We have the third largest army in the world yet terrorists have attacked the parliament, they have attacked Mumbai, they attack some city some town some street almost every second day and what have we done to curb this menace ? "We condemn the attacks that took the lives of our near and dear ones and we shall take every step to see to it that it never happens again" End of story each time

The terrorist attacked parliament and what did India do ? Had this been the white house the US would wipe every Muslim nation off the world map (no offence to anyone but isn't that what the US does ).

The SMS that started this soon turned into a debate and my friend and he raised the point that I may complain about it but is the country ready for war. The point here is the things we cherish like T.V item numbers, Karan Johar's movies,Indian sports etc are all a product of freedom and this is an attack on our freedom as a nation.

I am a patriotic person and our nation has done many things we should be proud of but the fact remains that showing mercy to Pakistan in '69 war is one the grave mistakes India made and is still paying for it, its high time we correct them.
